"THE FRONT PORCH"
by Michael Jones
The Front Porch was first published in The Orillia Packet and Times, Saturday
November 27, 2004.
When a community loses its center it also loses its story, its sense of purpose and reason for being. Historically every community had a commons, an open and public space where our personal story and the community story - was articulated, celebrated and passed along. In this essay Michael Jones explores how we may restore the spirit of the commons as a new and vital centre for revitalizing the creative life of our communities.
The Front Porch is adapted from the essay The Longing for Wholeness, Restoring the Health of the Commons. To read this essay please click on the following link from the pianoscapes web site.
